Common Ingredients in Anti Wrinkle Creams

Common ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams are retinol, antioxidants, peptides, hydroxy acids, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.

Anything you put on your face needs to be safe and free from any chemicals that can cause allergic reaction. If you have sensitive skin, hypo-allergenic anti wrinkle creams are also available.

Common ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams are retinol, antioxidants, peptides, hydroxy acids, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.

Retinol

Retinol as a derivative of vitamin A is considered the most effective anti-aging ingredient for smoothing wrinkles, breaking pores open, improving skin texture and lightening of superficial brown spots.

Retinol is very potent such that skin irritation may be experienced when skin is exposed directly to sunlight. This is why retinol based anti-wrinkle creams should be applied at night on dry skin.

Niacinamade

Another important common ingredient among the many common ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams is niacinamide. Niacinamade can lighten the dark spots which occur due to sun damage, acne scars and old age.

Niacinamide is a derivative of vitamin B2 and is effective in preventing melanin or pigmentation to the skin surface. Skin moisture barrier and collagen production are improved, reducing sun damage. Niacinamide can even reduce inflammation and acne.

AHA

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are considered exfoliators that dissolves the glue which maintain skin cells together while eliminating the dead cells which results in a youthful and vibrant skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

Acids may be harsh and abrasive but is considered an essential ingredient of anti-wrinkle creams in fighting skin wrinkles due to aging. Hyaluronic acid is humectant.

It is capable of drawing out water from air into the dermis, the skin beneath the outer skin surface. Hyaluronic acid can add a moisturizing effect on the hydrating qualities of a moisturizer or lotion and can even enhance production of collagen.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants can prevent skin damage and even repair damage to tissues since it encourages skin growth while neutralizing free radicals caused by sunlight smoke and pollution. Vitamin E as well as green tea and coffee berry extracts are the best examples of antioxidants.

Sunscreen and Vitamin C

Other common ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams are avobenzone which is a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and L-ascorbic acid which is also known as vitamin C.

The chemical ingredient avobenzone is effective in blocking ultraviolet rays while ascorbic acid helps in the production of more collagen, reduce inflammation while enhancing elasticity to plump up the skin.
